Wheel of Fortune

A wheel could be small and crude in the making using wood and mounted on a wall.

Or, it could be a gaudy floor model with pictures and lustrous abalone inlays standing seven feet tall. With such agonizingly slow turning of the wheel gamblers found it very suspenseful which attracted a lot of play.

Many of these wheels were gaffed (rigged for cheating) eventhough the legitimate odds were sufficient to provide the owner a very nice profit.

Other wheel types  included; The Jenny Wheel, Needle Wheel, The Ball Spindle, The Squeeze Spindle and many others.

Still played today and with pretty much the same rules. All a player needs to do is put his money down, stand back and wait to lose.
